The last day before arriving at Penny's.

We ate breakfast at a great, art-covered place named Grumpy's Cafe.   Then, we went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  Penny fitted from exhibition to exhibit like a kid in a candy shop.  We also stopped in a grave yard to take photos.   It was a Polish Cemetary in Cleveland.   We liked Cleveland.   We photographed a steel mill and ate Paprikash at a Hungarian "social club."   Penny made a delicious dinner of buttered shrimp with smoked paprika, and I slept in the super comfortable guest bed at her house, then set off to my house to see Toni ( the lady watching my pets and house) at 5:30 the next morning.  When I got home, I found that Tony had filled the entire refrigerator with food, made a cake, and bought all kinds of little foods for around the kitchen.        I slept another 24 hours at home.  It's raining.  I need to take Reese to RUN in the park.  It's so good t...

Long day into Columbus, Ohio

All we did was drive all day, then go out for dinner er to a Hungarian pub/ restaurant. This was what I had, papigast chicken.  Hungarian.  Very good.   Now were watching Lupin, and I'm having a beer. The end.  Tomorrow we go home; we're both ready.

Trouble in Maguncie

Last night we checked in to the junky, yellow house in Maguncie.  It is about 30 feet from the train tracks, and has low ceilings and lots of little unmarked 2-4 in steps between  doorways.  Penny tripped up one of them and fell forward flat on her face. Luckily, nothing was broken, but she had to go to the emergency clinic to get 3 stitches where her teeth cut into her top lip.   Kind of put a damper on things.  But she was a VERY good sport and wanted to drink her wine and watch two more episodes of Lupin.   We had a 6 hour drive yesterday and another one today.  Yesterday we passed through Connecticut. NY, New Jersey and are now in Pennsylvania.    It's 6:08 and I'm waiting for Penny to get up.  We have to stop at the store and get some soft food for her to eat for a week.

Next stop Maguncie, Pennsylvania

Today we have a 4 hour ride ahead of us.  Into the hills of Pennsylvania.    Penny wanted to stop at Emily Dickenson's house, a Norman Rockwell museum, and some psychic's grave.   I'd rather visit things that are alive.  We meet in the middle at "antique" stores, which turn out to be tons of junk.   I was wrong ; we're going back to Massachusetts So Penny can see the Norman Rockwell Museum and the antique Japanese store and the Yoga Center.   We're in stockbridge, Massachusetts. A very exclusive town that has exclusive shops with high-end goods and ridiculous prices. At a diner,  it cost me $6 for a glass of iced tea and $10 for a piece of carrot cake.   All I want is a good thrift shop, and to get on the Road because now we have a 5-1/2 hr. drive to our AirBNB in Pennsylvania.

Today we drive 5 hrs to Connecticut.

Along the way we have purchased so many snacks that we both have an overflowing big grocery bag full of crackers, cheese, chocolate bread, chocolate, I bought a whole bag of apples and Penny bought a whole bag of Clementine oranges but the Border guards confiscated hers because no fruit was allowed in the US. I got away with mine though! We've got about three more days on this crazy Trip. Penny brought a shoe box full of CDs and I have Pandora so there was music 24/7.   It's 5:00 a.m. and I've been up for about a half hour. Penny should wake up soon.  I think we'll leave early for Connecticut because it's a 5 1/2 hour drive. We're staying at the home of an artist, with zen gardens, so we're both looking forward to that.   The back of my Subaru Outback is a sea of bags, snacks, souvenirs, home good items, bottles and bottles of water. Even a bag of apples, and several of my coats flung over the top... This was the place we stayed last night.  This is o...
