Tres-Rivieras, Quebec
More toast for breakfast. Comfortable beds. And we headed out in the early morning for Tres-Rivieras, Quebec. We played different renditions of the Hallelujah song- my request, for most of the 1-1/2 ride. The trees were colorful fall colors, and the traffic flowed freely in about 80 mph only the signs are in kilometers per hour. We get there and absolutely every single person speaks French. We stop at a French grocery store and Penny is like a child in a candy shop! SOME people speak broken English.
We found our place down quite Little Road one block from one of the rivers. Across the river was a little white church with a tall steeple. Barges went back and forth and little, giggling "fishermen" fished off the edge of the river.
Penny does speak enough French to get by. Oh by the way, French men are short in general.
When you come to a French place you have to move slower and speak quieter just to be considered polite. Penny gave me a little lesson and told me I had to say "bonjour" to everyone and then once I asked for what I wanted, I had to say "Merci" and then "Ov war" ( google doesn't know how to spell it! Lol )
We drove around seeing the sights, and visited a monastery. We thought we could creep around the place and explore the whole site but we could only go into the first room where the "Museum" was.
They must have been friendly nuns!
We had lunch in the middle of town at a pub. It was a cod fish fry and the place was jam-packed. Penny drank cider (alchoholic) and I had an IPA.
We were able to check in at 3:00 and we arrived at an adorable little place with a long hallway to the back rooms, which turned into mini palaces with full walls of Windows facing the river, much to our Delight!
We had French hors d'oeuvres and French wine for happy hour. It was delicious. And then for dinner we had leftovers from the last night- which was Pad woon sen with tofu. So far we have eaten three meals out of that one dinner.
We ate chocolate and watched a Richard Gere and JLo movie called "let's dance" or "dance with me" or something like that, because we were too exhausted to go out. 😴 💤 🛏 was next.
P.S. The squirrels in Canada are black.
